No. All processing happens on your computer. Your files are never sent to a server.
Not for processing. FrameWipe connects to the internet only when you choose to download the optional Quality model for photo cleanup (about 200 MB, from Hugging Face). The app does not check for updates automatically and does not send crash reports or usage analytics.
Most models ship with the app. Two parts are optional downloads: the Quality model (LaMa, about 200 MB) for photo cleanup, and the tracking component for object tracking on Mac (about 390 MB zip). Neither downloads unless you ask for it. Object tracking is not available on Windows.
Images: PNG, JPEG and WebP. Video: MP4, MOV and WebM. MKV is not supported yet.
Mac: Apple Silicon, macOS 13 or later (Intel Macs are not supported). Windows: Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit (x64).
Yes. FrameWipe runs on Windows 10/11 (x64) as well as Apple Silicon Macs. Object tracking is Mac-only for now.
No. Results are always saved as new files. The file you opened is never overwritten.
No. FrameWipe does not un-pixelate or de-mosaic images or video.
Not always. Pixelation and blur can sometimes be partly reversed. For faces, names, documents or anything sensitive, use solid fill.
Not guaranteed. Very small or partly hidden faces can be missed. In photos, check the preview. In video, go through the list of possible misses before you export, and add boxes where needed.
No. FrameWipe fills the area with background that fits the surroundings. It is a believable fill, not the real content that was covered. In video, fast or complex motion behind subtitles can cause some flicker or ghosting.
Burned-in subtitles are part of the picture, so they have to be painted out frame by frame. A subtitle track is stored separately, and FrameWipe can remove it without re-encoding the video.
New versions are posted on the same Patreon post as the installers. The app does not check for updates automatically.
